Captain Katrina Davidson
Katrina Davidson was considered a troublemaker from her first days in the Academy and on her days on a starship. Nevertheless, her unorthodox method of thinking eventually earned her a position as First Officer on the USS Meridian. Shortly afterwards, a bomb exploded on the ship, killing several of her crew mates and a security guard she had a relationship with. Not satisfied with the answers on the Meridian, she tendered her resignation and joined with the alleged group known as ‘Section 31’.
Not much is on record during her time at this organization. One partial record was recovered indicating that Davidson had spent some time as a prisoner at a Klingon camp following her refusal to assassinate Klingon child. Her body was tortured to a point where she was eventually returned to Section 31 after she developed an infection and was near death. Lesson learned, in Section 31’s opinion. Other records reveal that she had joined forces with the former Captain Nathan Thompson during a mission to dismantle a Orion slave trade. Afterwards, the two formed a friendship and share information from time to time. She is one of the few people who is aware that he is alive and surviving under an alias at New Darwin.
Eventually, Katrina eventually became a skilled member of Section 31 and was assigned to the USS Yorktown as First Officer in a mission to spy and eventually assassinate the Captain, Da’nak Ca’daar. During her time she realized that Da’nak was a good and honorable man, and told him the truth. This was a costly move for Katrina Davidson, as Section 31 sent two insane Vulcans to try and murder the command team, herself include. It was a cat-and-mouse game that proved to be a difficult battle for the trio, as the Vulcans had the ability to mind meld and manipulate their diseased minds onto their prey. While being briefly under their control, Katrina had murdered a Ke’elzzoid soldier and threatened the rest with chemical warfare, earning her the nickname of Vetal (demon) among the entire Ke’elzzoid people and jeopardizing any attempt at peace. For her war crimes, Katrina was arrested by Starfleet Command but released shortly thanks to the efforts of Captain Ca’daar.
During her time on the Yorktown Katrina formed a close boned with Captain Ca’daar, Lieutenant Harvey, and Petty Officer Boston Conner, and became more trustworthy with the crew. Together they were able to disband and cripple the rogue section of Section 31 that Katrina worked for, led by Major Varga. They were not able to find the Major himself, however, who had fled back into the shadows.
Following this, Katrina and the rest of the crew enjoyed a relatively quiet year before Captain Ca’daar and Lieutenant Harvey decided to retire and spend the rest of their lives together. Katrina still wanted to pursue Varga, however, and requested a transfer off the Yorktown and to the Mining ship Amissa primarily responsible for training Starfleet cadets on the frontier. With her controversial history, Starfleet was happy to send her out to the middle of nowhere. While finding one or two leads, Katrina was ultimately not able to find Varga. However, after saving Admiral Garroway from a first contact mission that had gone wrong, she again appeared on Starfleet’s radar after Garroway transferred her to an assignment closer to Earth to keep her under closer evaluation. Deciding that she had finally changed for the better, Garroway approved her promotion to Captain under the USS Venture.
After a considerable amount of time and help from her first officer, Commander Jia Cassidy, Katrina was able to stop and end Major Varga as he was about to launch a coop against Starfleet Command. The cost, however, was significant. USS Venture was all but destroyed and half of her crew was lost. Eventually, she was granted command of another ship-the USS Pathfinder.
Personality & Traits
Katrina originally had a wise-cracking, sarcastic personality and a talent for breaking Starfleet regulations whenever possible. That act proved costly when she was reduced to the rank of Ensign. Over the years her time on the Yorktown and the frontier has changed her into a more patient, trusting individual. Her time at Section 31 has also left its mark on her personality, as Katrina had either participated or been a victim of some horrific acts.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths: Katrina is an expert with both Engineering and the Science department and works well under pressure. She is also a skilled fighter and dominates at stealth and infiltration. She also has several black-market connections across Starfleet. As a former Section 31 operative, she also has a detailed network of classified Starfleet activities that are still considered ‘active’.
